GoPhotoWalking

The virtue of the camera is not the power it has to transform the photographer into an artist,
but the impulse it gives him to keep on looking.
Brooks Anderson

who is a PhotoWalker?

Everyone. All that is required is a willingness to explore with an open mind and heart.

what is PhotoWalking?

PhotoWalking combines the regular practice of photography and/or video with the healthy exercise of walking for the purpose of visual peacemaking.

If you are like me, the idea of exercise for the sake of exercise is a noble one that I support but don't fully embrace. But give me a camera and tell me to go shoot, and exercise sneaks into my day. Doing this on a regular basis has transformed into a PhotoWalker.

You too can become a PhotoWalker. Just grab a camera and take the first step.
Set aside thirty minutes for a no pressure-no hassle stroll.

Llet your sense re-engage in new ways.
Don't worry about creating masterpieces. Use this time to perfect your technique and stretch yourself. Then share your images here with other PhotoWalkers.

PhotoWalking is a community centered on play. It is also about developing personal vision, increasing photographic skills, building self-discipline, and improving mental and physical health.

when do I PhotoWalk?

Anytime you want. Think of PhotoWalking as creative exercise. The more you do it,
the better shape you will be in, artistically and physically. Our imaginations need
stretched on a regular basis. Every day, every other day, once a week for twenty to
thirty minutes. It's up to you.

where should I PhotoWalk?

Pick places that you find inspiring. I often "photo paint" by shooting close-up photos
of graffiti and other urban detritus. Back alleys and abandoned buildings are my idea
of fun. Other days I need the smell of fresh pine, the chill of mountain air or the color
burst of a newly-blossomed wildflower.

Walk wherever your inspiration takes you.

And if at first you feel as if there is nothing to see, keep walking. You will be surprised
what you discover around the next bend. Trust me, it works.

why PhotoWalking?

Creating art nourishes our spirit. Exercise strengthens our body. PhotoWalking is a
simple way to do both.
